A “World First” Keeps Shell Producing
Introducion of a new Induced Gas Floatation Unit (IGFU) was to require a 30-hr shutdown. TEAM's solution prevented the shutdown enabling the piping system to remain online.
When Shell United Kingdom Exploration and Production (Expro) introduced a new Induced Gas Floatation Unit (IGFU) onto their Gannet platform they had planned to finalize the installation during a 30-hour shutdown. The shutdown was then cancelled.
Expro turned to TEAM. We offered a world first in engineering design. It brought together hot tapping, leak sealing and double line-stopping technology to enable final tie-ins to be made while the existing piping system remained fully operational and while batches of produced water were diverted for the purpose of commissioning the new IGFU vessel.
Specialist hot tapping and engineering expertise coupled with lateral thinking, produced a solution that is quite an achievement, and a ‘world first’.
This work may have been performed by a company subsequently acquired by TEAM.
